This blog is about our ongoing project to build an off-grid home in the Somontano region of Aragon, Spain. We’ve bought 10 hectares of beautiful land (previously a Barley field), 8km from Barbastro. We’ve drilled a borehole which will supply the house and the planned olive orchard with water.
Power will be provided by solar photovoltaic panels and a backup diesel generator for cloudy winter days. The original plan for a passive house is on hold and in the mean time we’re building a timber frame cabin.
